Frequently Asked Questions

What is Vasculitis?
Vasculitis is an inflammation of the blood vessels. It causes changes in the walls of blood vessels, including thickening, weakening, narrowing, and scarring. These changes restrict blood flow, resulting in organ and tissue damage. There are many types of vasculitis, and most of them are rare.
What are the symptoms of Vasculitis?
Common symptoms include fever, fatigue, weight loss, muscle and joint pain, loss of appetite, and nerve problems such as numbness and weakness. In severe cases, organ damage may result without prompt diagnosis. Specific symptoms depend on the organs affected.
Is Vasculitis curable?
While some forms of vasculitis can go into remission with treatment, it is generally a chronic condition requiring ongoing medical management. Early diagnosis and proper treatment significantly improve outcomes. Many patients live full, active lives with the right care.
How do I join a vasculitis support group?
We run regular online and in-person support sessions for patients and caregivers across India. Click "Join Community" at the top of this page, or contact us directly to be added to our next session. Sessions are free and open to patients, caregivers, and family members.
What makes Vasculitis Society different?
What sets the Vasculitis Society apart is our dedicated focus on vasculitis — including a network of specialist doctors, personalised lifestyle guidance (exercise, nutrition, meditation), active patient support groups, and transparent fund allocation toward research and patient care.
How do I become a volunteer?
Click the "Join Community" button at the top of this page, fill out the application form, and submit it. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds — medical professionals, caregivers, patients, and supporters alike.
